Organists and Organ Playing

In a fog

If you were one of the email subscribers to the blog you may have been puzzled by my mention of the Kona Choral Society when I wrapping up my time on the Garden Island, Kaua’i. I must have been tired when I wrote that last post, because of course I meant the Kauai Chorale, directed by Shane Morris Wise, not the Kona Choral Society where I played Messiah last Sunday.

This is the week that was—four concerts in the space of one week, and on three different islands, but in addition to that, I’m also the coordinator and lightning rod for my condo’s Christmas Party in which we have reservations for over 300 people. You could say that I’m operating in a fog — being totally overwhelmed by rehearsals, concerts, parties, organ lessons and the like — everything is all jumbled up!

Today, in addition to teaching three organ lessons (one of which I came over a half hour late because I totally lost track of the time), I also took postcards to Bulk Mail Facility at the airport for our upcoming “Dueling Bach” concert on January 18, 2020.

It reminds me of the meme which I shared on Facebook two years ago.

That’s my life, for sure!

Forget holiday shopping — I have done nothing, and it might be a miracle if the annual “Crosier Chronicle” ever gets written. Or maybe it might be after Christmas?

However, I have done a little decorating, in anticipation of my annual Christmas party for the residents of my floor.

Tonight’s rehearsal for this weekend’s concerts with the Hawaii Vocal Arts Ensemble went well and the choir is singing beautifully. The concerts are Saturday night at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoon at 4:30, both at the Mystical Rose Oratory at Chaminade University.

On Sunday morning I’ll be playing the service at Waiokeola Congregational Church, plus a choir rehearsal for Iolani School’s Chorus program.

Just a typical December weekend for a musician, right?!
