Organists and Organ Playing

Some people see trees …

I saw a tall tree, but when organbuilder Hans-Ulrich Erbsloeh saw it, he said, “I can build a 16′ Bourdon out of it!”

Some people see trees, other people see organ pipes!

We decided to forego seeing any organs today and instead took the train to downtown Hamburg to take a harbor cruise.

Here we saw the concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie, from a different perspective.

We also saw a huge container ship (400×56 meters) which can carry a maximum of 21,000 containers, and weighs 90,000 tons when the containers are empty! Hamburg is the third largest port in Europe and there is much shipping between here and China.

When we returned from the cruise, I had my favorite, Wienerschnitzel, for my last major meal in Germany. It was so juicy and delicious, and when am I going to have it again?! I don’t think I’ve seen it in Hawaii.

Then when I saw rhubarb soda on the drink menu, I just had to try it! (I love rhubarb pie!)

It reminded me of this video I had seen before:

After a little shopping, we returned back to the house and went for a walk in a nearby nature preserve, Naturschitzgebiet Schnaakenmoor, where we saw the very tall tree pictured above.

We also saw a herd of deer and some horses.

I have had a wonderful time here in Germany! Now I must say Auf Wiedersehen and fly to London this afternoon.
