Howard Dicus, who is listed as the “Resident Explainer” of Hawaii News Now (KGMB-KHNL-KFVE) and his cameraman came to the Lutheran Church of Honolulu to film a segment for the Sunrise morning show. According to Joey Fala and Hans-Ulrich Erbsloeh, both men were suitably impressed with the organ! Hans said it was clear that Howard knew music, and in fact, he hosts a classical music show on Saturday mornings on Hawaii Public Radio.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) –

This weekend, the Lutheran Church of Honolulu will be having a free concert to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their pipe organ, which was built by master builder Rudolf von Beckerath, the last organ he personally voiced and supervised in the United States.

Joey Fala, a graduate of Iolani School, first heard the pipe organ as a preschooler at Holy Nativity School. He started lessons on this instrument in fifth grade, and is now pursuing a concert career, after winning many awards and prizes for his organ playing.

The concert will be held at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, located at 1730 Punahou Street, this Sunday, May 24th at 5 pm.

Come early! Parking may be a challenge in our neighborhood.
