Thank you to the Choir

Here’s a letter Carl wrote to the choir:

Dear LCH Choir,

Words really can’t express the joy I felt last Sunday as we presented the Haydn “Lord Nelson” Mass during my final service at LCH. I will admit I had some “real fire in the belly” in some sections, taking them faster than we had ever done in rehearsal. But then you all know by now that sometimes this happens “in the moment” with me. But as usual, everyone was very focused and you rose to the occasion.  The Haydn mass is such a dramatic work, and singers and players illuminated that beautifully.

Thank you for the beautiful cards, leis and words of thanks and congratulations. I will treasure the many kind expressions. Also thank you for the most generous monetary gift. I haven’t yet decided how I will use it, but I will definitely let you know when I do.

As I said at our choir party on August 13, I will really miss making beautiful music with you and most of all being with you on a regular basis. But also understand that I am also really looking forward to free weekends, more time with family and time to pursue interests that have long been on the back burner.

And I will remind you again, the way you can most honor me is to continue with the LCH choir under Dr. Miguel Felipe’s leadership so that the wonderful music ministry that you are all a part of can continue to flourish.

My sincerest thanks for all the hard work you did for the LCH Choir under me and Allen and for all of your expressions of thanks and good wishes.

Yours most sincerely,

Carl
