“Pulling out all the stops” — isn’t it great that an organ term is in the mainstream? It means to make every effort, and we have certainly tried to use every avenue to “get the word out” about this monumental undertaking. In mid-September we published and distributed our season brochure, and the day after our October 11th concert, we mailed out a special Monteverdi postcard. Emails from Early Music Hawaii and the Honolulu Symphony Musicians were sent out with information about the concerts. Emails were also sent out to the Hawaii Chapter American Guild of Organists and the Honolulu Symphony Chorus. I also set up a FaceBook Event to which I invited friends. Karen Sender of St. Andrew’s Cathedral set up a FaceBook Note giving a lot more detailed information.

During the recent pledge drive on Hawaii Public Radio, Carl Crosier and Ian Capps twice went on the air to give tickets away in exchange for pledges to the station. Movements from the Vespers were played in between pledge breaks. Then last week, Ian Capps gave two talks in the Atherton Studio, giving background information on Monteverdi and his importance to the rise of the Baroque style. Carl Crosier also took the opportunity to tell about the upcoming Hawaii performances and some of the considerations he had to make such as contracting the artists, determining the venues, the musical scores, and so forth.

Steven Mark, of the Star Advertiser, interviewed both Carl and Derek Chester, tenor, for a feature article to be published in the newspaper this week.

On Wednesday, November 3rd at 9:00 am, Carl, along with Ian Capps and Derek Chester, will be on “Morning Cafe” with Gene Schiller on KHPR, 88.1 FM.

What’s really exciting is that on Thursday morning, November 4th at 7:15 and 8:50 am, the Whole Noyse and Richard Savino, theorbo, will be performing on Sunrise, KGMB (Hawaii News Now), and interviewed by Howard Dicus, a classical music lover. I won’t be able to watch it on television since I’ll be at work then, but it will be posted to their website, hawaiinewsnow.com so it can be viewed later.
