Mission accomplished!

That’s how I felt when I ordered sushi at Haneda Airport as I was departing Japan. Like many other people, one of my goals was to eat good food while in Japan, and sushi was on my list! In the slideshow below you can see the wide variety of meals we had in a short time. In fact, except for miso soup, I don’t think we ever ate the same kind of food twice!

I also felt a “Mission Accomplished” triumph when our plans to visit a friend of Bill’s fell through on our last day and we had an unexpected free day. For days I had been searching out a certain Sanrio plushie my grandson had wanted and we visited at least four or five Sanrio stores to no avail. Finally we were told that particular stuffed animal was only found at the Sanrio theme park some distance away in Tama. So this doting Grandma went to Sanrio Puroland on the last day in Japan to fight the hordes of parents and kids buying Sanrio merchandise. You would have thought they were giving away money!

Speaking of crowds and hordes of people, one day we went to Asakusa, a historic district in Okyo known for its traditional atmosphere, centered around the Senso-ji Temple, which dates back to the year 628. People were really crowded around a lion dance and it was hard to get close.

I found this photo on the internet which gives you some idea of how many people were in Asakusa.

Here’s a short video I took of the lion dance, providing a wonderful memory.

It was another great trip!
