So while the weekend has not quite arrived yet, it is the beginning of two crazy, busy weekends where I will play NINE services in just TWO weekends! As I write this, I’m in fact on the way to Honolulu International Airport to pick up Maui organist Clayton Logue who will be my houseguest and play two services at St. Andrew’s Cathedral on Sunday.
Here’s my schedule:
Saturday, Aug. 1, 10:30 am. Funeral at St. Andrew’s Cathedral (Soloist Georgine Stark: I wrote an arrangement of “Jesus Loves Me” [music requested by the family] for her to sing as a solo.)
Sunday, Aug. 2, 8:00 am. High Mass at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
Sunday, Aug. 2, 10:00 am. Solemn High Mass at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
Sunday, Aug. 2, 5:30 pm. Evensong at St. Andrew’s Cathedral
Saturday, Aug. 8, 10:00 am. Funeral at St. Andrew’s Cathedral
Sunday, Aug. 9, 8:00 am. Holy Eucharist at St. Andrew’s Cathedral
Sunday, Aug. 9, 10:30 am. Holy Eucharist at St. Andrew’s Cathedral
Sunday, Aug. 9, 3:00 pm. Funeral at Iolani School
Sunday, Aug. 9, 5:30 pm. Evensong at St. Andrew’s Cathedral
Yup, that’s nine services (!) in just two weekends and I just hope my car points me to the right church at the right time! So you can guess how much I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my life, as shown by the poster below.
This nice party is being put on by my friends at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church where I have taken the office administration from the Prehistoric Era to the Digital Age in my eleven years there since July 27, 2004. My last day will be Wednesday, September 30, 2015 and then I’ll be free as a bird!
(Except for continuing to teach organ lessons, organ substituting, playing the pipe organ in my condo, learning how to play the harpsichord, traveling, and writing this blog, of course!)
