The first Honolulu performance of the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 will take place at St. Theresa’s Co-Cathedral, a new location for many Honolulu concert-goers. It is located at 712 North School Street, on the mauka side of the H-1 Freeway.  It will be on Friday, November 5th at 7:30 pm. The program will be repeated at 4:00 pm, Sunday, November 7th, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral.

St. Theresa’s has recently been renovated and is probably “the best acoustical space in all of Honolulu,” according to Carl Crosier. The floors are all covered in marble, creating a reverberant, ambiant space.  The room is spacious and we’ll be able to place the ensembles in different parts of the room, especially effective for the echo effects called for in Monteverdi’s score.

Ample parking is available and parishioners of St. Theresa’s will be directing concert-goers on where to park.

The rector of St. Theresa’s is Father William Kunisch, a former Lutheran Church of Honolulu intern and dear friend to many in our community.

We hope that you will consider attending the Monteverdi Vespers in this gorgeous venue — in fact, why don’t you plan on going to BOTH St. Theresa’s and St. Andrew’s — as the two performances will be different because of the acoustical spaces.
