Tonight Scott Fikse put the finishing touches on Early Music Hawaii’s long-delayed Josquin Des Prez’ “A 500th Anniversary Celebration” video which is now live through April 8, 2022. I have this fantasy that when you’re retired, you’re able to throw away your alarm clock! No such luck, I still get up at 5:30 a.m. every morning, even though I may have stayed up past midnight to watch Spanish language telenovelas! It’s a fact of life, like death and taxes, that a musician’s life… Read More Delusions of retirement

I’m not even sure I took a breath during that work! The piece begins at about 33 minutes and 26… Read More 11 minutes of terror!

Since the pandemic, my daily life has started with a 2-1/2 mile walk (during which I listened to Spanish podcasts), 45 minutes of Spanish practice with Duolingo, a one-hour online Spanish class “Cada Dia Spanish”, a 45-minute Zoom conversation in Spanish with Vreni Griffith and/or Cindy Scheinert, two local friends,… Read More My life changed … with one phone call
Friday night was a first—my first time in a theatre in at least 14 months to watch a performance because of the pandemic. Now that I am fully vaccinated, I felt safe to be at Diamond Head Theatre to take in the Honolulu production of “Forever Plaid,” an off-Broadway musical revue. The theatre was as… Read More What a coincidence!
