Our taxi driver was already waiting for us when I came downstairs at 3:20 am and within half an hour, Bill and I were at the Prague Airport with hundreds of other people. Our flight to Amsterdam left on time, but midway through the flight, the crew moved us to the first class seats because… Read More From Bordeaux to Saintes
When I was planning this trip to South America, I made arrangements in advance to see the organs in Montevideo and the Buenos Aires Cathedral, but I certainly didn’t expect to find early music. When we toured the Teatro Colón, however, I saw a poster for the Gabetta Consort, which I suspected was an early… Read More Over-the-top early music!

is how one listener described Friday night’s Early Music Hawaii program, “Oratorio.” What a truly wonderful concert last night!!! One expects Georgine to outdo herself, and she did. But Naomi really “covered herself in glory!” (as the Romans used to say). Her tone and technique seem to have matured and acquired a level of professional… Read More A stunning concert
Look at the gigantic bass recorder!! On Sunday morning, Carl decided to go to Church of the Advent for their 11:15 service which precluded his attendance at the BEMF concert at 12:30 pm. That meant that I had an extra ticket so I looked for someone, perhaps a student, who might like to have his… Read More Recorders galore
