Around the Crosier household, you never know when there will be an impromptu concert. Such was the case last night, as we invited our neighbor, Kelly, to pick up some leftover beef stew, and my husband Carl was showing our houseguests, Sylvia Rhyne and Eric Redlinger (“Asteria”), our fortepiano. They then responded by giving us a preview of their concert TONIGHT which will take place at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu under the sponsorship of Early Music Hawaii. In this intimate setting, I kept thinking of what one reviewer called them: “meltingly beautiful.”
Together they perform medieval songs of love inspired by Arthurian romance. I found out that they live four months of the year in New York, and the rest of the time in Dijon, France. I’ve been too shy, though, to try out my newly-reacquired French! They have a neighbor who is an organist and has access to many historic instruments in the area, so there’s a possibility that we may be able to visit them this summer.
Secretly, I’m envious of those people who can carry their instruments around with them!
Hope you will be able to make their concert tonight — we are in for a GORGEOUS treat! Tickets may be obtained by going to the Early Music Hawaii website by clicking here.
