Yesterday was a transfer day, meaning several hours on the bus. We left at 9:00 am and didn’t arrive in Fátima until 5:00 pm! However, I’m grateful that our tour director planned a three hour stop in Porto, one of my favorite cities in Portugal.

When we arrived in Porto, we walked across one of the many bridges spanning the river for a great view. We took the opportunity to take a Three Sisters at this beautiful spot. Look how gorgeous the blue sky is!

We also noticed the landmark scallop shell which marks the Way of St. James. At first I was going to crop out all our silhouettes of us taking the picture. However I changed my mind and here you are.

We also started noticing the many ceramic tiles that adorn both the inside and outside of buildings. After all, ceramic tile work lasts much longer than just paint.

We were “let loose” on the waterfront to have lunch and Jieun and I shared a seafood salad and cod .

It was late afternoon when we arrived at our hotel, the Santa Maria. Bill Potter and I went to the Marian procession at Fátima at 9:30 pm and sat inside the Chapel of the Apparition. It was quite a bit different and not so tightly organized as the procession at Lourdes. At the end, we put our candles in the fire pit, where others place wax body parts.
