Yesterday was the halfway point, otherwise a Transition Day in our organ festival, “Celebrating the Pipe Organ in Hawaii.” It meant saying goodbye to Katelyn Emerson and her mom, Sue, as they flew to Lihue, Kaua‘i, for Katelyn’s upcoming concert at All Saints Episcopal Church, March 19. We then greeted Alcee Chriss and look forward to his concert at Central Union Church in Honolulu this coming Sunday afternoon, March 20th at 2:00 pm. However, there was a day when both Katelyn and Alcee were together on Oahu— I did not know that they graduated from the same class at Oberlin and have known each other for about ten years.
Meanwhile, our AGO board member on Kaua‘i, Shane Morris Wise, took these pictures of himself and Alcee following the successful March 12th concert in Kapa‘a.
The livestream has been archived on the All Saints Episcopal Facebook page:
Yesterday afternoon I also picked up Jieun Kim Newland and her husband from the airport.
This afternoon was our first rehearsal together with violinist Darel Stark, and I’m happy to report that everything came together quickly. It’s going to be a wonderful concert—Monday, March 21st at 7:00 pm at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu.
You are really busy! jb
