As I was eating breakfast and scanning today’s newspaper, I was wondering whether there would be any notice of my organ concert on Sunday. And lest I had any doubt, when I turned to page 19 in the TGIF Entertainment section, there among ads for new cocktails, trick-or-treat cakes, all you can eat shabu shabu, free coffee and 10% off oriental chicken, there I am!
What a relief—at least I wasn’t put in with the ads for nightclubs and escorts!
The caption reads: Bach’s Clavier-Ubung III (the German Organ Mass): Organist Katherine Crosier and a chamber choir under the direction of Scott Fikse perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s masterwork. Proceeds benefit the Carl Crosier Memorial Fund at Lutheran Church of Honolulu: 7 p.m. at the church, 1730 Punahou Street. $25 suggested donation. 941-2566, 221-9608.
I have former student Joey Fala to thank for taking that picture, and I’m afraid he made me look better than I do in real life! That picture is now about four years old, and I have more “glitter” in my hair now (that’s a euphemism I just learned recently for getting “old and gray.”)
Tomorrow long-time friends Frank and Sue Haas will be helping me to stuff the programs and prepare a little concert surprise, a party favor if you will. You can preview the program by clicking here. (Takes a little while to load since it’s a high-res version; be patient).
Tonight is our dress rehearsal. Kowabunga! (That’s the German equivalent of “Cowabunga!”, an acclamation of enthusiasm!)
