As you may recall from my last post, last week I played for 5 church services.
This week I have 5 evening rehearsals (4 for Early Music Hawaii and 1 for St. Mark’s). Tonight was the instrumental rehearsal for Early Music Hawaii.
I am scheduled to teach 5 organ lessons this week.
I will play 5 movements from Maurice Duruflé’s “Choral varié sur ‘Veni Creator’” next Sunday for Pentecost (May 19) which is 50 days following Easter.
And I will host my 5th houseguest since November, Jonah Heinen, a tenor from Seattle, who is here to sing the Early Music Hawaii concert on May 18.
If that isn’t a coincidence, I don’t know why the number five is so important this week!
Hey, last week I was driving home from an organ lesson and I happened to catch Sharlene Taba’s public radio interview with baritone Jeremy Wong, who is home for a visit from Minnesota where he is a staff singer/conductor with Cantus, a professional all-male choral ensemble.
Read Jeremy’s bio on the Cantus website here. He and I have collaborated on a number of occasions at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu and with Early Music Hawaii.
Jeremy said that singing with Cantus is a full-time job, with 5 rehearsals a week, each 5 hours long daily. Wow! Another connection with the number 5!
It’s another crazy week, to be sure. Tickets are available for the “Rome 1600: The Glories of the Italian Baroque” concert on the Early Music Hawaii website.
Hey Kathy – Just an FYI – Jason Nomura went to high school with our daughter Heidi in Okinawa! Small world…..:-)
