I’m jetlagged, but I’m hitting the ground running!
I walked in the door of my condo about 2:30 pm on Friday, having left Buenos Aires on a 9:00 pm flight on Thursday. The flight to Houston was 10 hours long, with a 4 hour layover, then it was another 8 hours to Honolulu. That means I arrived at about 9:30 pm Friday Argentina time — more than 24 hours in transit!
Of course, having absolutely no sleep on the plane, I was pretty tired and went to bed by 6:45 pm — but I was wide awake at 1:15 am! It was a good thing that my first organ student didn’t come until 10:15 am. I taught three organ lessons yesterday and practiced the music for the Sunday service.
In addition, I have less than a month to learn the music for the next Early Music Hawaii concert, a celebration of William Byrd, who died on July 4, 1623, four hundred years ago. I designed this postcard before I left, an image of Lincoln Cathedral where Byrd was Master of the Choristers at the cathedral from 1563 to 1572, during which he composed much music.
We left the hotel at 5:00 pm, leaving plenty of time for Marsha to take a picture at the Buenos Aires temple of the Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, something she always does while on vacation.
Before leaving the hotel, we said goodbye to Janice and Elliot who will be staying in South America another week.
On our last day in Buenos Aires, Marsha and I went on a Hop On, Hop Off tour and recognized many of the places we had seen earlier, including a stop at San Telmo where it had been super busy crazy on our previous visit. However, there were some new places as well.
We also were treated to another tango demonstration, and this time, no one’s head got in my way to take a video!
Oooh, it’s good to be home and to sleep in my own bed, and to shower in my own shower where I have consistent hot water — I just wish I could transition to this time zone faster! (It’s now 2:17 am as I write this!)
Wow! what a trip (and what a long journey home!). Glad you’re happy to be there!
Thank you for your wonderful, breathtaking travelogue!
