Well … yes. Another way to spin the story!
A few days ago, I received an email from Karl Bachman, the organist and music director of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the title, “National News.”
Last Friday on several television stations there was an article about the Albany, New York airport that was cleaning out the Lost and Found and among the items therein was a wedding album. They put a few of the pictures on the air and asked that if anyone could help them identify the couple in the album to call a phone number they listed on the crawler of the broadcast. No telling how old the album was, but it certainly wasn’t recent. A former teacher of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church saw it and recognized that the reredos in the chancel of the church was indeed the hand-carved koa wood reredos of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Honolulu, Hawaii.
There has now been a flurry of activity around this album and an effort to update the story. There are people here at my church and on the mainland who are contacting lots of other people in an effort to identify the couple in the pictures.
Karl was then interviewed by a local TV station, KHON2, which you can view here.
There have been scores of news reports about this story, but here’s the one from the local TV station: https://www.khon2.com/local-news/album-found-in-new-york-airport-linked-to-oahu-church/
And apparently leads are coming in!
In case anyone can identify the people in the album, here are some photos to peruse:
OF COURSE …
What was most exciting to me was to see Karl, a local organist, be interviewed on TV!
I especially smiled at his comment:
“… if that couple… is still a couple” Ah yes, the risks of modern marriage!
Here’s hoping that someone recognizes the people in the photo, and that the album may be returned either to the couple or to their relatives.
