Welcome to Another Year of Insanity’s new home! You’ll notice many similarities to my original blog, but some differences. For one thing, I’ve renamed this blog, to differentiate it from the original, and am calling it “Yet Another Year of Insanity.”
All the original posts have been imported into this blog, meaning that the “old blog” will remain on the Lutheran Church of Honolulu’s home directory, but only the new posts will appear here.
No kidding … migrating the old blog to this space took a LOT longer than I thought it was going to take. Silly me, I thought I could just export all the data (like a backup file) and then import it into the new space. Hah! I ended up exporting all the posts in yearly batches, which wasn’t so bad, but discovered many errors in exporting the huge number of media files. I finally had to export the photos one month at a time, but even then there were numerous linking errors. The fact that Bill Potter, the webmaster, had moved all the photos from 2010 and 2011 to another directory meant that WordPress couldn’t find them anymore. But many other current photos were missing, and I ended up re-exporting them from my phone, when I could.
And the fact that I had some sort of firewall error in accessing the old site from my apartment did not help at all. As I explained in my last post, I ended up sitting for hours in the Lobby of my building, using the Guest Wifi because as soon as I tried to access the site from home, I got a connection error.
The long and short of it means that every single post needs to be updated manually, to either add the photos back in or to update the link. I am probably only 5% completed, but at least enough of the blog is intact (without the photos) to have some semblance to the “old blog.”
I decided to reorganize the posts at the same time — I want to divide my collection into topics concerning Organists and Organ Playing, Musical Events, People (these are non-organists), and Travel. The musical events category will be further subdivided into major individual choral concerts and organ recitals—the “biggies” I have participated in, such as the St. Matthew Passion or the Mass in B minor, or my major organ recitals such as the complete Clavierübung or the Great 18 Chorales.
Please — if you were a subscriber to the blog previously, you will need to re-subscribe using the form above and to the right. You will also need to update your Bookmarks to include the address of this new site.
I humbly ask for your patience in this process, but now I guess this means that my “free time” is now kaput.
Stay tuned!
Looking Forward! jb
