At least, that’s how I saw myself in Early Music Hawaii’s first virtual concert, “Sacred Music of the English Reformation.” A number of cameras on iPhones and iPads were focused on me, and you never see my face, only my hair!

On Friday night, when the video was set to go “live,” it was my responsibility to upload the link onto the Early Music Hawaii website. I had already redesigned the page where I wanted people to “land,” so it was just a matter of waiting.

Luckily Scott Fikse, the director and producer, had sent me the link early on the morning of October 23. I embedded it in the website and watched a preview version just to make sure it worked.

About three hours before air time, Scott phoned saying he had updated the video and wondered whether my link would have to be redone. Luckily there was no change needed on my part.

Since I am in California, which is three hours ahead of Hawaii time, I positioned myself at my sister’s computer and got ready to press “update” at precisely 9:59 and 45 seconds, giving the system 15 seconds to update the page.

And magic! The video was uploaded.
