Newspaper … Radio … Television … Direct Mail! Early Music Hawaii has used all the tools of the trade to get the word out about this Saturday’s Musica Poetica concert, September 19 at 7:30 pm at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A few days before Labor Day, the Musica Poetica postcard was mailed out to about 600 addresses.

Then last Saturday, it was through Honolulu Star-Advertiser staffer Pat Gee that we got a nice write-up including a picture (shown to the left).

Today we hit the jackpot — television and radio. My houseguest, Dana Marsh, had to wake up at 4:45 am this morning in order to get ready to appear on the Sunrise television show. He was interviewed by host Howard Dicus, and then the three sackbut players: Linda Pearse, Christopher Canapa and Caleb Ketcham plus cornettist Stephen Escher performed (but not a piece that will be on the concert.) Because of flight delays, and the fact that Linda Pearse flew in from New Brunswick, the quartet rehearsed for about 15 minutes in the green room and then were on air!  Their segment was aired about 8:20 am and 8:45 am on KFVE so in case you missed it, you can click here to replay the video of the interview and performance.

 

 

 

 

 

Half an hour later, Dana Marsh and Linda Pearse were interviewed by Gene Schiller on Hawaii Public Radio. I was very touched that the very first question Gene asked Dana was about the dedication of the concert to the memory of Carl Crosier — and Dana described our first meeting more than twenty-five years ago. He went on to detail the many times he came to Hawaii for musical collaborations with the Crosiers.
