I always look forward to the Exhibition of musical instruments and music at the Boston Early Music Festival which opened today. Vreni Griffith and I decided to go there after hearing the Peabody Conservatory, and look who we found in the lobby of the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel!
We then looked through the displays of lutes, recorders, and cornettos.
And here is a most unusual instrument which sounds like a harpsichord but looks like a harp.
And then we were almost ready to go, having seen most all of the exhibits. And then I saw it–a small harpsichord called a “spinet” but having a full and rich sound. It was a baby harpsichord and I absolutely fell in love with it! The price was right–so soon this harpsichord made by Neupert of Germany will be joining its cousin the baby organ in Honolulu!
Yes, it was an impulse buy but I am so excited!
Good for you, Kathy! You deserve it!! And this way, your baby organ won’t be lonely… 🙂
