You may recall from last summer when I wrote about all the memorial events for Carl Crosier, there was even going to be one held on the mainland. In fact, there will be a whole weekend, May 9-10, 2015 of remembering Carl and our former business partner, Peter Hallock, two of the principals of Ionian Arts. The two men died only four months apart — Peter on April 27, 2014 and Carl on August 28, 2014.
Let me tell you about the public events first:
Peter R. Hallock Tribute Concert
Saturday, May 9 , 8:00 pm at Saint Mark’s Cathedral, Seattle
with the Compline Choir, Opus 7 Vocal Ensemble, and the Saint Mark’s Cathedral Boys and Girls Choir performing rarely heard music for choir, handbells, strings, percussion, brass and/or organ spanning Hallock’s vast compositional output. Suggested donation $20 per person.
Alumni + Compline Service
Sunday, May 10, 9:30 pm at Saint Mark’s Cathedral, Seattle
Compline Choir and alumni combine to chant the office of Compline featuring music by Peter Hallock
In addition there will be a local Carl Crosier Fête in Seattle. Since many were not able to attend Carl’s service in Honolulu, there will be a private gathering of Seattle folks to share memories, delight in tasting some of Carl’s best-loved pupus, and devour some delicious BBQ. I and my son, Stephen Crosier and his wife Jessica, some local Crosier family friends and relatives, and several Compline Choir members (active and alumni) will be in attendance. This will be an opportunity to remember all the many parties Carl gave in Seattle, especially Peter Hallock’s 85th birthday party.
Also there will be a dinner of the Cathedral Compline Legacy Society of alumni and friends on Sunday night, May 10. We will celebrate 59 years of the Compline Choir and share news of the Hallock Institute’s founding. Go back and read all about the Hallock Institute here. We will also recognize members of the Founders Chorus of the Cathedral Compline Legacy Society and discuss planned giving to the Hallock Institute with choir alumni and friends over a semi-catered dinner hosted by the choir. Suggested donation $20 per person.
That weekend is also Mother’s Day, so I’m looking forward to being with my son and daughter-in-law in Seattle! I won’t have to worry about him remembering to call me on Mother’s Day!
I’m so sorry I can’t be there! What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate two extraordinary lives!
I will so miss seeing Carl at BEMF this year–the UNT Collegium Singers will be back again.
But I will be coming to BEMF! I’ll try to find you to say ‘hello’ !
The UNT performance will be Tuesday at 3:30 PM (First Church, where the YPF concerts always are). It’ll be wonderful to see you–I hope we can find time for lunch!
