Of course, there wouldn’t be a celebration honoring Peter Hallock without the magic ingredient: FOOD! and this weekend was as much about eating as it was about music. Here are more pictures of Saturday’s clean-out-the-Hallock-liquor-cabinet party, as well as photos from the reception following the Sunday afternoon service.
There was a reception downstairs in Bloedel Hall after Sunday’s afternoon service which was hosted by Dennis Campbell and Markdavin Obenza of
St. Clement’s, Margaret Obenza of the Byrd Ensemble and the Tudor Choir; and Hisako Beasley, Mary Coon and Virginia Lenker of St. Mark’s. Not knowing how many people to expect, the hosts brought TONS of sandwiches, finger foods, cookies, fruit, salads and the like, and there was plenty for everyone. I have never seen so much food in all my life! [By the way, I confess I ate five black olive and rosemary shortbread cookies; they were so unusual and so DELICIOUS!]
In case you’re wondering, Peter Hallock was asked what he wanted for his ninetieth birthday, and he said he wanted everything PINK! So that’s why there are pink tablecloths at the reception, and many of the Compline guys wore pink!
I knew Peter for years as his helper in his gardens.I was saddened when I called him in the spring and found out he had passed. He was such a character, he is missed! The person who answered his phone told me they would be in touch and let me know of the service but I guess that they forgot my number because I never heard back. please let me know of any future get togethers.. we (my husband, son, and I )worked for him and with him and we loved him! We always helped him with his many projects and helped him get the outside ready for his annual party! Here s to you Peter!
