Tonight Carl and I hosted a reception for the patrons of the Bach B-Minor Mass and the Abendmusiken Concerts—individuals and organizations who have given contributions of $1,000 or more. I guess it was Carl who came up with the name “Bach Crest Circle.”
Five years ago, Carl said he would have fixed all the food himself. But now that he’s “come to his senses,” we went to a restaurant and let someone else do all the cooking and clean-up! In fact, it was seven years ago that Carl hosted an artists party after the St. John Passion concert — an event that started at 10:30 pm and the last guest didn’t go home until 2:30 am. You guessed it, we had church the next morning! (Ouch!)
Anyway, this was our chance to say “thank you” to the many people who have donated money to the LCH Music Fund. It also was an opportunity for Carl to introduce the soloists to the group and for everyone to find out that they are great people, not just great musicians!
When you get your copy of the program, you can see the complete Bach Crest Circle includes: Dorothy C. Au, Ian Capps and Jeannette Johnson, Carl and Katherine Crosier, Peter G. Drewliner, Vreni Griffith, Frank and Sue Haas, Early Music Hawaii, Thomas Hilgers & Michael Molloy, German Benevolent Society, Lynne Johnson, Live Music Awareness, Henry C. “Bud” Klein, Karen Olson, Charles Pearson & Josie Bidgood, Bill Potter, Mary C. Sanford, Sue Ann and Peter Wargo.
Thank you, Bach Crest Circle, and also to all those who have supported music at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu all these years! We are so very grateful.
