For the last week or so, Carl and I have been rehearsing for our first Abendmusiken concert of the season, which will be on Monday, October 11th at 7:30 pm. It’s a program similar to one we did eight years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary, “25 Years of Making Music.” This time, though, we are celebrating our milestone birthdays.

Outside of the opening organ duet, the entire program consists of music in which we take the role of accompanist, either on organ or piano. Here’s the program:

I think Carl takes home the prize for doing the most varied roles: harpsichordist, pianist, singer, and conductor in this concert! It has been a delight to rehearse all this music, some of which are my favorite pieces. When Carl and I were dating, the Albinoni “Adagio” was “our song,” and we played a recording of it every chance we could. Of course, in those days, it was LPs, not CDs like today.

Georgine Stark has sung “He’s got the whole world in his hands,” every time we at LCH have said “goodbye” to someone on the staff. Although we are not saying “goodbye” to Carl just yet, the song is always a showstopper and crowd-pleaser!

100% of ticket proceeds will go towards the LCH Music Endowment Fund. This is different from the LCH Music Fund which is primarily for concerts and Bach Vespers. The Music Endowment will be used to undergird the regular parish music program of the church.

Stay for birthday cake (guava chiffon and lilikoi chiffon from Dee-Lite Bakery) and champagne punch in the courtyard after the concert!
